The team at Annabelle’s Challenge are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our members, Rob Gibson, who passed away on 2nd July 2026, aged just 50.

Rob was diagnosed with Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (vEDS) in 2024 and joined Annabelle’s Challenge in January 2025. In that short time, he became a valued part of our community, bringing kindness, strength and a willingness to support others living with vEDS including those within his own family who are affected with the same rare genetic disorder.

A highly respected Hull businessman, Rob ran the city’s Signs Express franchise for 24 years, earning admiration for his professionalism, dedication and leadership. He was also a much‑loved former player and supporter of Hessle Rangers, where his passion for football and community spirit left a lasting impact.

Rob will be remembered not only for his achievements, but for the warmth, generosity and resilience he showed throughout his life despite enduring numerous life-threatening health problems.

Rest in Peace, Rob.

From all of us at Annabelle’s Challenge, the EDS National Diagnostic Service (Sheffield) and the wider vEDS community.
