Regional Coordinator (Voluntary)
Due to an increase in membership numbers of people joining the charity and the size of each region across the UK we are looking to increase the number of volunteer coordinators within each region to a minimum of at least 2/3.
A regional coordinator's role involves overseeing and managing support group meetings, events, or initiatives within their region for Annabelle’s Challenge.
Our regional face-to-face support groups provide a safe, confidential, relaxed meeting for those affected by vascular EDS i.e. parents, carers, friends, children, and partners.
The support group meetings are facilitated by our volunteer regional coordinators, all of whom have lived experience with vascular EDS either personally or in a caring role. They provide a helpful way to share information, listen to each other’s experiences and together find ways of navigating the complexities of living with or caring for someone with vascular EDS.
The role of a Regional Coordinator involves:
- Arranging quarterly meetings in your region (Minimum 2 per year)
- Having regular catch-up calls with the patient coordinators
- Providing support to members in your region via email and private Facebook group, where appropriate
- Acting as a liaison/conduit to the Annabelle’s Challenge office team
- Communicating through email, WhatsApp and private Facebook group with members to inform them of meetings and other events in their area
Some of our regional coordinators also volunteer their time to support the vascular EDS community with:
- Coffee Meetups – some of our Regional Coordinators do things differently and travel around their region to meet small groups of people in a more informal setting over a cuppa and cake!
- Medical Awareness Days – some Regional Coordinators spend a morning or afternoon at their local hospital or GP surgery with a table full of information ready to pass on to medical professionals, members of the public and patients.
- Family Fun Days, cake sales and local events – These give every member of our community an opportunity to come together and learn more about vascular EDS or simply have some fun while raising money for Annabelle’s Challenge!
What’s in it for the volunteer?
The chance to make a real difference to the lives of those we strive to support living with vascular EDS including your own personal development plus:
- Access to Charity Worker Discounts
- Access to the Blue Light Card scheme
- Access to our free confidential counselling service
- Discounts on AC / REDS4VEDS merchandise
- Free training and development programme
- Free AC T-Shirt
- All reasonable travel expenses and costs will be paid by the charity
