East Anglia

Welcome to the East Anglia VEDS Support Group. This group and our meetings are led by volunteer regional coordinator Claire.

Meet Claire Hall

My name is Claire, I was born in Brazil and moved to the UK in 1998. Previously a graphic designer, I went on to become a Paediatric Nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital and later at Cambridge University Hospital, Addenbrookes, where I was a Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse.

I was diagnosed with vascular EDS in 2012 following a spontaneous arterial dissection. I have 2 young boys both of whom have vascular EDS, the youngest is severely disabled and needs 24 hour care.

Following my second arterial dissection in 2016, I took early ill health retirement from the NHS after 20 years service. As well as caring for my boys, I am now writing my story and rekindling my artistic skills. I am 47 years old and am fighting to live long enough for my boys, my family and to be able to give support and hope to those living with vascular EDS as well as to the families affected by it.

I joined Annabelle's Challenge in June 2016.

VEDS Support Group

Our regional face-to-face support groups are safe, confidential, relaxed meetings with lunch included!

Facilitated by our wonderful volunteer regional coordinators, all of whom have lived experience with vascular EDS either personally or in a caring role.

They offer a welcoming environment for you to meet others who are touched by vascular EDS. They provide a helpful way to share information, listen to each other’s experiences and together find ways of navigating the complexities of living with or caring for someone with vascular EDS.

Our support groups can help you build self-confidence, become more informed and this may lead to you becoming more in control of your life with vascular EDS. They help you feel you are not so alone including your loved ones.
