Annabelle attended an Armed Forces event in June at Rochdale Town Hall and met with Simon Weston OBE. It was an honour to meet Simon and listen first hand his experience and motivation and single-minded determination, to not only accept what is, but to turn that to your advantage.
During a closing speech Linda Fisher, Acting Chief Executive of Rochdale Council highlighted Vascular EDS to the high profile guests in the room as Annabelle joined Simon on stage to present him with a thank you gift.
In 1982 the Sir Galahad
was destroyed in Bluff Cove on the Falkland Islands. On board was Simon Weston, Welsh Guardsman, a name and face that was going to become well known for his struggle to overcome his injuries (46%
burns) and redefine his role in life.
Simon endured years of re-constructive surgery, including 70 major operations or surgical procedures.
